Ask Patti: Redness Around My Mouth

Q: Patti, I always have red skin that looks a little bit like a rash around my mouth. Do you know what causes this? 

A: I am neither a dermatologist nor a scientist, and I would have to see a photo of the area you described to make a fair comment. However, I am thinking that the redness is due to inflammation, which could be caused by allergies from your cosmetic products.

You may want to consider switching to a line like Restorsea that is allergen free.

Restorsea Summer Soiree

A stylish sampling of Los Angeles tastemakers came out to Bungalow One at Chateau Marmont on Thursday, June 13th, to celebrate the launch of the Spring 2013 Restorsea products. Guests included local media, bloggers + social influencers and hair, makeup + fashion stylists. Attendees sipped champagne as they sampled and were educated about the products by Restorsea Founder and CEO Patti Pao, our chemist Ike Alabata and our team from BPCM and LaForce + Stevens. At the end of the night, each guest was delighted to find that they would be leaving with their favorite Restorsea products!

Fat Melting Technology

Staying in shape isn’t the easiest thing to do. With full time jobs, evening plans, and movies to see, who has time to hit the gym on a regular basis? And also, like, running is hard!

Well, thanks to a new drug tested at UCSF, cardio time may soon be a thing of the past.           

The world’s first fat-dissolving injectable, ATX101, is currently in its last round of testing by the Food and Drug Administration after three complete years of clinical trials.

The drug’s active ingredient is sodium deoxycholate, a biosalt similar to the one that intestines produce to digest fats, and basically works to break down the fat cells our body gathers through eating.

While currently designed to target ‘submental’ fat areas (the double chin), if approved, the drug could completely change exercise as we know it!

Aquacycling

I’m the kind of person that loves wellness and healthy living, but that doesn’t particularly enjoy working out.

This is because I like things to be pretty and clean, and I also enjoy a peaceful environment. Fortunately, AQUA, the new high-end fitness club in TriBeCa, seems to offer all of the above and more with the studio’s popular Aquacycling classes.

Cycling underwater is more effective than in a traditional gym because the water prevents soreness and joint pain as well as increases blood flow (helps get rid of cellulite), improves cardiovascular endurance, and promotes flexibility and recovery.

It sounds like an AMAZING way to get aerobic exercise without killing my knees. It also doesn’t hurt that the boutique is beautiful and European.
